What happens if we eliminate manufacturing jobs in America? Do you believe that’s a wise choice? No, Bernie, I really don’t think that’s the right move.

Should your child engage with an AI bot? No, Bernie, that’s risky. I’m genuinely concerned about that.

What about your privacy being completely compromised? Is that advisable? No. I value my privacy immensely. Agreed?

How do we tackle these issues in light of AI? If you tell people, “Guess what? You’re currently working 50 hours a week. We’re planning to reduce that to 20 or 30 hours, while maintaining the same pay. How does that sound?”

True, but you did meet with Sam Altman recently. I believe you had an hour-long conversation about the sovereign wealth fund proposal, where you mentioned Altman was, quote, “Not enthusiastic about the idea.” You also referred to him as a skilled politician.

What were your thoughts about him during your meeting?

He’s a bright individual.

Yes, a very bright individual, quite charming, and I believe he’s an excellent salesman; that’s his expertise.

I also think he’s a savvy politician. These are intelligent individuals. A few years ago, they were attempting to convince us, “Oh, AI is fantastic. It’s so beneficial. Everyone’s going to gain.” Now, they’re finding that more people aren’t buying that story.

So, in their shoes, what’s the response?

“Well, what can I say … I need to offer something to the American people. Guess what? We’ll give you 5 percent of the benefits, just because we’re good people, out of the kindness of our hearts.”

Thus, they must discover how to effectively market their product and transformation to the American public, and that’s one avenue. Trump is similar. I don’t trust what Trump claims. However, following my [sovereign wealth fund] announcement, he remarked, “Oh, that’s an intriguing idea.”

Is there a scenario where the Altmans and tech companies reach a consensus before lawmakers do, realizing they have such a significant optics issue that they need to do more to satisfy the American populace?

I believe you’ll witness that unfold. But the challenge isn’t merely, “Fine, you pushed me. I’ll give you a couple thousand dollars a year. Done.” The core issue is power.
