Quiz: Could AI Threaten Your Job?

This spring, a group of leading researchers from academia and think tanks attempted to predict the impact of AI on the economy through 2030. They conducted a survey with numerous economists, AI specialists, and “superforecasters” to explore various scenarios, including one where AI achieves such advanced capabilities that it can author a “Pulitzer-caliber” book and negotiate its own publishing agreements.

The majority of experts in the survey indicated that top-tier jobs—such as CEO, administrative manager, senior official, and legislator—would continue to expand, even in a “rapid” AI development scenario. However, the outlook for many individuals in white-collar positions appeared uncertain.

There is a general consensus among researchers that AI is influencing the economy in a significant, yet intricate, way. Obtaining precise figures is challenging. This is why WIRED has created a completely unscientific quiz, drawing on factors that researchers believe may help assess who might be at risk.
