All the Unveiled Highlights from Google I/O 2026: Gemini, Search Innovations, and Smart Glasses

An intriguing addition to Google Docs is voice editing through a feature named Docs Live. By expressing your thoughts aloud, an agent will transcribe your words, create text, source citations online, and transform your spontaneous ideas into a structured document.

For heavy users of Gemini, Google is introducing a new subscription level, the AI Ultra plan, priced at $100 monthly. Additionally, the cost of the existing Gemini AI Ultra is being reduced from $250 to $200 per month.

Gemini Omni

Google has revealed Gemini Omni, a video generation tool comparable to Sora 2, OpenAI’s now-defunct deepfake generator.

Google aims to develop a highly realistic video generator that can blend real footage and apply various AI enhancements. The company encourages users to focus Omni on their own appearances, allowing for modifications of selfie videos to include different backgrounds, styles, or settings, creating the illusion of different locations.

During a presentation, a demo showcased a person recording a walkthrough of a metal sculpture, then requesting Omni to alter the structure to appear as if made of bubbles. Users can also upload images and videos from their camera rolls to create cinematic outputs. Google claims Omni can handle advanced animations and engaging typography.

While Google’s priority is video creation with Omni, still images and text functionalities are anticipated in the future. Ultimately, Google envisions Omni’s capacity to produce any output from any input.

Gemini Spark

Gemini Spark serves as Google’s counterpart to OpenClaw, the popular AI assistance bot that assists with practical tasks like grocery shopping or vacation planning, albeit with occasional risks of scams.

Spark can draft emails, organize events, and retrieve information from your Google Drive. It acts as a personal assistant, tracking your schedule to become familiar with your life’s pace, anticipating upcoming events, and managing ongoing or long-term responsibilities.

Running entirely on Google Cloud, Spark can handle background tasks without requiring your device to stay active. Currently, Spark is compatible only with other Google applications, though support for the Chrome browser and third-party apps is expected later this summer.

Agents Love Shopping

To enhance your online shopping experience, Google plans to roll out a shopping feature powered by agents. As you search for items, Google will present listings for products available from various retailers. You can still shop the traditional way by visiting different websites directly.

The key innovation is a universal shopping cart. As you explore, you can add products of interest, with Google’s agent keeping your wishlist organized. It will notify you of price changes and updates on newer versions or color options. While items remain in your cart, you can engage with Gemini for more information about potential purchases, add additional products, or seek better deals from other retailers.
